Applications for the third Founder Institute Cohort in Frankfurt are now open
The Founder Institute Frankfurt Chapter has opened the applications for their 3rd program in our region. For the third time Frankfurt Valley is happy to be one of the community and ecosystem partners of the platform
At the Founder Institute, they continue to encourage early stage entrepreneurs to create companies from their ideas. These last 18 months have been particularly tough, but they also know that economically challenging periods and times of change are also periods of opportunity to start a business. This isn’t just conjecture — the Founder Institute was started over 10 years ago, in April of 2009 (during the “Great Recession”), and world-leading companies like Microsoft, Tesla, and Apple also took advantage of cost savings during a recession to launch and get their initial traction.
That’s why FI FFFM is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Fall 2021 program. If you could use a structured process and a lifetime of support from Frankfurt’s top investors and entrepreneurs to build something meaningful, then apply to the 2021 Frankfurt Founder Institute today.
FI FFM will be hosting several free startup online events over the coming months, where you can learn from top entrepreneurs from the comfort of your home. They have a series of lunchtime meetings and evening meetings for Founders and early-stage Entrepreneurs.

The Female Founder Program
In continuity with the previous semester, The Frankfurt chapter will continue its collaboration with &ahead and Women Who Inspire Rhein Main with the Female Founder Program. This fellowship is intended to help early-stage women entrepreneurs build innovative businesses. Several fellowships awarded to the top applicants, allowing them to participate in the program for free.
This collaboration with &ahead and Women Who Inspire Rhein Main is part of Founder Institute’s goal of improving the gender gap in technology. Together we aim to build additional promising female-led startups in 2021, and help further establish Frankfurt as a center for female leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation.
This year, the team also have a special focus on EdTech and Impactful Entrepreneurship. “Global edtech venture capital investments totaled more than $10 billion in 2020, up from $500 million in 2010. Some estimate an additional $87 billion in investment over the next decade.”
For the 2021 Semester, the Frankfurt Directors have decided to extend the local program focus to also include the EdTech industry. On top of the normal program, interested founders will have further access to EdTech mentors, and the team will be adding additional work sessions to address specific concerns for EdTech Founders. “As our EdTech program is defined, we’ll provide additional new but we are already very excited about the experts and advisors we’ve lined up!” says Dimitris Polychonopoulos — EdTech Vertical Leader.
For Progress Start-ups
In 2015, the UN released the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , an urgent call to align efforts towards “a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet” by 2030.
As Adeo Ressi, Founder Institute CEO notes “Unfortunately we have not made meaningful progress on these goals. We cannot rely on governments and big organizations to fix the world’s problems. The time is now for entrepreneurs to do their part in making progress towards the SDGs.”
For the fall 2021, the Frankfurt chapter will further support companies in the area of sustainable and thoughtful development. Along with a For Progress scholarship for an impactful project, the FI program was aligned in the prior year on integrating the SDGs into the startup business design for all the participants.
Since 2009, the Founder Institute has helped over 4,500 Alumni raise over $950M funding, get into seed-accelerators, generate traction, recruit a team, build a product, transition from employee to entrepreneur, and more (see the FI 10 Year Impact Report here).
Alessio Tixi, CEO and founder of Tuto from the last cohort shared in his interview with Frankfurt Valley: “Momentum is critical for early stage companies and the FI structured program has been very valuable to keep us moving forward. The connections, feedback and advice we all got in the past few months is something that I have learned to deeply value not only for execution, but also for my mindset as an entrepreneur…”
Eng. Natalia Korchakova-Heeb, Founder of PPPHealth4All and Managing Director of SDG.17 Consulting GmbH shared the following about her experience: “….I am grateful to FI for the opportunity to meet so many wonderful and positive-thinking people and all support received that empower me to develop my project that has a huge global impact in the times of the pandemic. Impossible to name all of them, but I believe that I made some true friends.”
