Ths List of the finalists Hessian Founder’s Prize 2020 in four categories was announced and Food and IT are the focus of the twelve young companies in the final of the competition

The semifinals of the Hessian Founders Award were doubly exciting: On the one hand, because of the 44 founders who presented their business ideas to the 32-strong Hesse-wide jury. But the event itself was also challenging in Corona times: the venue in Kassel is a high-risk area, and infections are increasing in Hesse. That is why project manager Elisabeth Neumann determined to hold the jury session via online conference. “That was a novelty, but it worked out great, I’m very happy about that. We had already gained experience with events that were wholly or partly held virtually, ”reports Neumann. “I very much hope that we can meet again in person in 2021, but I’m also proud that we didn’t cancel our competition. Especially in the pandemic, young companies deserve support and attention. ” The twelve finalists are already asPrize winners of the Hessian Founders Prize 2020 and will compete against each other on November 27, 2020 to determine a winner in each category. The final and award ceremony should actually take place in Kassel, but are now also being held online due to Corona.

he city of Kassel is most strongly represented regionally with three finalists. Together with two others from the region, North Hesse is the geographic focus of the award winners. The finalists are thus an example of the brisk start-up activity outside of the metropolitan regions. Thematically, two areas stand out: four companies each are with food or withBusy IT topics . The Hessian Founders Award has a different regional partner every year to support the start-up process on site. This is often reflected in a higher number of regional applications, but is neutralized by the Hesse-wide composition of the jury.

Also Katharina Koch in Calden in the existing since 1877 Landfleischerei Koch competed within the family succession and vigorously modernized.
